      The fifth grade teachers hope you had an enjoyable vacation and well deserved rest. Now that the new year has begun we are looking forward to a fresh start. The fifth grade students are currently preparing for the New York State ELA exams. They are reviewing such topics as inferencing, editing, listening skills, and note-taking. In science, they are finishing their investigations of the water cycle and the effects of global warming. We are still currently exploring Westward Expansion as we take a journey down the Oregon Trail. In math, the students are learning about division. Remember to review your multiplication facts to help make mastering division easier.
