Grade
The fifth grade is
on its way preparing for Middle School!!!!
We will be taking
the New York State Social Studies Test in November and are now preparing
for the ELA in January.

Before then,
students will “experience” the colonial life of the 1700’s during our
field trip to the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society. They will get
to make corn bread and apple pie while learning about farming.

December will also
give the grade five students at Old Country Road School an opportunity
to learn about the 1800’s and the westward movement. Activities will
be provided during our Wild West Day to motivate students to want to
learn about fractions, decimals, percentages, and the multiplication
of decimals by weaving the math curriculum to into social studies.
This is great
preparation for the New York State Math Test in March. Students even
get to take turns lassoing a horse!

Parents and
teachers will work together to provide our students with an exciting
learning experience throughout the year!
