The Second Grade students are enjoying
winter. We had a Thanksgiving celebration before the holiday. We made
things just like the early settlers did. The students even churned their
own butter! We also took a trip to the Hicksville Public Library. Many
students received their own library cards. They learned about being
responsible and taking care of their books. We also listened to a read
aloud by a librarian. It was a great day!
We are focusing on Reading
comprehension. Please be sure to read with your child every night.
Discuss the books and ask your child to retell story events in his or her
own words. Ask your child questions about the story and encourage him or
her to look back for the answers. This will help your child strengthen
reading comprehension skills.
We wish you a happy holiday season and a great New Year!
