The Hicksville Public School District is pleased to announce that senior Aakash Abbi has been named a Semifinalist in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Competition. More than 50,000 students nationwide vie for this prestigious honor, with only 16,000 actually qualifying for Semifinalist status by receiving the top scores in their states on the PSAT/NMSQT. Aakash has earned the opportunity to continue in the competition for about 8,200 National Merit Scholarships that will be offered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in 2010.
