The Hicksville Public School District congratulates Luis Romero and Allison Widen, two seniors at Hicksville High School who received the National Hispanic Recognition Program award through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Established in 1983 by NMSC, this prestigious distinction is reserved for only 5,000 outstanding Hispanic/Latino students nationwide each year. Qualification for recognition is based on critical reading, mathematics and writing scores on the PSAT/NMSQT and a minimum grade point average of 3.0. As recipients of this honor, the program sends a list of all recognized students to subscribing colleges and universities that are particularly interested in academically outstanding seniors of Hispanic/Latino heritage.
