Giving Thanks to a Dedicated Board

Superintendent of Hicksville Public Schools Maureen K. Bright took time at the beginning of the October 21st Board of Education meeting to mark Board of Education Recognition Month. "Board members give countless hours of their personal time because they are committed to the students of the Hicksville Public Schools," stated Superintendent Bright as she addressed the Board, students, and community members in attendance at the meeting. "Their dedication and integrity are essential to the success of our students and our district."

Student representatives from each building attended the meeting to express their appreciation for the work done by the Board on their behalf. High School student Melissa DellaBartiolomea gave a speech thanking the Board for helping to provide students with so many learning opportunities. Middle school National Junior Honor Society President Alessandra Riccio was also on hand to introduce the student presenters from each elementary school. As a special way of showing their appreciation, each student presented a Board member with a student-designed thank-you card and a yellow rose. Board of Education President Susan Powell was impressed by the students' sincere words and artistic creativity on the beautiful, brightly colored cards the students created. "It means so much to us as a Board to know that our work is appreciated," she stated as she thanked the students for their presentations.
