The Hicksville Public School District is committed to the development and implementation of an appropriate education for students with disabilities within the least restrictive environment. Students with disabilities are those whose special needs are significant enough to warrant the provision of special education services in accordance with an individualized education program. To meet the special education needs of children with disabilities, the district provides a full continuum of services including transitional services, support services, consultant teacher services, related services, resource room, special class integrated (Inclusion), special class (self-contained), out-of-district placement, home and hospital instruction, and declassification support services. The district prepares a biennial Special Education District Plan that includes the district policies, practices, and procedures to assuring appropriate special education services.
