Open Houses and
Back-to-School Nights
Open Houses and Back-to-School Nights were recently held at Hicksville Public Schools seven elementary buildings and Hicksville Middle and High Schools, respectively.
These "back to school" evenings provided district parents with a valuable opportunity to walk through their child's school building, visit classrooms, and meet teachers and administrators. PTA units were on hand to welcome parents and volunteer student greeters handed out maps to aid in navigating the buildings. Parents followed an abbreviated schedule of their child's school day, visiting each class in turn, and heard an overview of curriculum goals and expectations from each teacher. This important interaction time with district professionals provided parents with the opportunity to see firsthand the class work their children were completing and to have their school related questions answered.
