On June 19, 2002 the residents of our district approved a bond referendum for capital improvements to our facilities. For the past year we have been working diligently to complete the projects approved by the residents. In addition, the annual school district budget allocates funds for capital and maintenance projects. The results of our hard work on these projects is clearly visible throughout the district.
The number of projects, the time in which they were completed, and the quality of the work is a testament to the dedicated staff who planned, oversaw and executed the construction work. Where possible, work was scheduled during the school year. Safety was always a primary concern. In these instances the principal, staff and PTAs were involved to ensure that instruction was not disrupted and that all safety and security concerns were addressed. The scope of the combined projects, bond, facilities and maintenance is very impressive. The scope of the projects scheduled for this past summer was an enormous undertaking. But as students and staff returned to school in September there was much excitement as they eyed new bathrooms, counters, windows, art and home and careers classrooms. Each school in the district, even the Administration Building, was part of the renovation.
We are very proud of the results of the work to date. Below you will find a listing of the improvements at each school, along with several photographs. The extensive, but not all inclusive list, includes new boilers, bathrooms, elevators, windows, heating and ventilation, ceilings and lighting, electrical upgrades, computer wiring, new public address systems and fire alarms, roofs, water fountains and water cooler and asphalt and paving throughout the district. Work on various projects is continuing throughout the district. Bond updates are provided at each public monthly Facilities Committee meeting of the Board of Education.
