Marching Band Wins USSBA 2007 Northern States Championship
The Hicksville High School Marching band concluded their competition season on Sunday, November 4, 2007 with a decisive win at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown, Pa., marking only the third time in the band's history that they have won the United States Scholastic Band Association's Northern States title. With a flawless performance, the band members ended the season executing their 2007 program, "From Dusk to Dawn". The Marching Band placed in front of 16 other bands, taking top honors in Colorguard, Music and Visual Captions.
The members of this year's band have worked to perfect their performance from July, attending a six-day band camp where they organized their 2007 production for the first time. During the Fall, the band rehearsed two nights each week and on weekends. In September and October, the band competed at Division Avenue, Brentwood, Huntington, East Ramapo and Montville, New Jersey.
On October 21, 2007, at the Mitchell Field Athletic Complex in Uniondale, the Marching band was named USSBA New York Sate Champions in Group 1A, receiving top honors in Percussion, Colorguard, Visual, Music and Effect. On October 27 and 28, 2007, the band traveled to the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University to rehearse and perform in the New York State Field Band Championship.
After months of hard work, all of the dedication and practice the group put into this year's program came to fruition in the Allentown regional finals. Congratulations to all the members of the 2007 Hicksville High School Marching Band, Director Molly Tittler, Assistant Marching Band Director Alec Schaefer, and the tireless support of the Band Parent's Association.
