Welcome to our website!

Hicksville Public Schools, located in Nassau County thirty miles east of New York City, has evolved over the past three centuries from an Indian land purchase to a microcosm of America. Named for Quaker farmer Eliza Hicks, the town has witnessed the transformation of colonial roads and farms into a bustling diverse community with retail and industrial growth, a commercial downtown, educational and civic attractions and lovely residential neighborhoods. Hicksville Public Schools has been educating children for well over a century and we are proud that our schools are the center of education and cultural life in our community. Schools, ball fields, gymnasiums, and auditoriums filled with enthusiastic students, caring parents, proud senior citizens, community residents and dedicated staff work together as partners making our district the heart of education and cultural life in the community.

The Hicksville Public Schools Board of Education and Administration has a long standing reputation for valuing education. Successfully educating children has been our primary vision. Committed to higher academic standards for all students, we have been transforming the district with new programs, curriculum, textbooks and special initiatives. A dedicated teaching staff is supported with extensive staff development programs and improvements to our school facilities have enhanced our learning and work environments, while making our facilities a more attractive aspect of our community. Over the past year and especially this summer, tremendous improvements have been made to our school facilities throughout the district. Funding from a thirty-three million two-hundred fifty thousand dollar bond referendum and budgeted capital and maintenance allocations has enabled the Board of Education and Administration to make many improvements to our schools. These improvements assist our students in continuing to meet and exceed the challenges of high standards and state assessments. Most importantly, our many renovations coupled with the implementation of new and on-going district-wide initiatives and standards based instruction ensure that learning is both fun and challenging.

Our community is a wonderful place for children to learn and families to live and grow. We are proud of the many accomplishments of our students and staff and pleased to celebrate our diversity and rich history. The community has a long tradition of providing students with a strong base of values upon which to build their future. We are dedicated to preparing students for a diverse future in our competitive and evolving technological world. Together we create schools that celebrate our differences, define our commonalities and take pride in our accomplishments. I encourage you to browse our website. Learn more about what is happening in our schools, take advantage of the many wonderful activities that are offered to students, parents and residents. Involvement in our schools benefits not only our children but our entire community. Come share our pride in our students and our schools, as we continue to build on our traditions of excellence we will ensure a bright future for our students. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Maureen K. Bright
